May Your Holidays Be Green

It has been a successful year for us at Mason Homes, as we wrapped up 2010 with the Green Builder of the Year award from EnerQuality. We want to share with you some tips and ideas of how you can have a green Christmas.

At this time of year, the retail consumption is at its peak, and just imagine how much paper and plastic are being wasted – from plastic bags, paper bags, wrapping papers and so on. Here are some quick tips for a green Christmas you can consider this year or in the future:

· Decorate your tree with energy-saving LED lights.

· Consider sending Christmas e-cards instead of traditional cards.

· If you find old Christmas cards, cut them up and use them as gift tags.

· Use newspapers, old gift bags, comic books, or magazines as wrapping papers.

· Consider purchasing gifts that are recycled or locally made.

These are just simple tips that you can consider starting off with this year and make sure to recycle all your waste. Mason Homes promises to continue to create green communities and promote green lifestyles in the year to come. Stay green this Christmas and happy holidays from Mason Homes.

Mason Homes Sweeps PKHBA Awards

The Peterborough & The Kawarthas Home Builders Association (PKHBA) held its 8th annual Kawartha Awards of Distinction gala on November 19th, 2010, in Peterborough. We’re proud to announce that Mason Homes took home many first place awards. Mason Homes won several awards for the quality of their new home designs (Most Outstanding Single Detached Home, both under 1,500 sq. ft. for the Bluebird model and over 1,500 sq. ft. for the Greenwich model, and Most Outstanding Multi-Unit Attached Home), for their impressive marketing campaigns (Best Print Ad Campaign, Best Internet Website, Best Sales Brochure, and Best New Home Sales Office) and, most excitingly, Project of the Year for Avonlea.

Avonlea is an enchanting community in Peterborough full of parks, ponds, and family-friendly streets. It’s a green community in a perfect location surrounded by protected green space, and is walking distance to shopping and schools. The community has two-storey homes, bungalows, and townhomes. Avonlea won several awards at the PKHBA Awards of Distinction in 2009 as well. We’re very proud of this new home community and are pleased to see its positive impact on the Peterborough community, as it is almost sold out and full of active families and couples living a great lifestyle. Mason Homes has been building in the Peterborough and Kawarthas area for a long time now and feel that we are part of its glowing community. Thank you to the PKHBA and to the Peterborough community for our recent awards.
