Mother’s Day Events Close to Some of Our Communities

Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar Mother's Day Brunch

Mother’s Day is almost here, and while many of you will likely be eating pancakes made by the kids on Sunday morning, or taking your mother out for dinner, you might still find the following list useful, as it contains events taking place close to some of our current communities.

Barrie (home to our Just4U community)

Beaches, a fine market grill, will offer brunch and dinner on Sunday. Dinner consists of a four-course menu as well as the Beaches’ popular Prime Rib Feature.

Where: 268 Bradford Street
Contact: 705-728-3000 and

Port Hope (home to our Port Hope Golf & Country Club community)
There will be a Mother’s Day Wildflower Walk in the Ganaraska Forest from 2 pm – 3:30 pm, to be followed by hot tea. (Call 905-885-8173 to register.) Also, this article offers great suggestions on how to spend Mother’s Day in Port Hope.

Peterborough (home to our Avonlea community)

Habitat for Humanity Peterborough will host both an online auction and a Mother’s Day event at Lansdowne Place. The latter will allow kids to create unique hand-painted flowerpots, with proceeds going to the 2012 Women Build Project.

Now it’s your turn: what are your plans this Sunday?

Big Turn Out for Port Hope!

Last Saturday, the opening of our newest community, Port Hope Golf & Country Club, was a big success! There was a big turn out for the event, and it was great meeting our potential buyers and our neighbours, the current residents of Penryn Village.

At Port Hope Golf & Country Club, we’re offering Green for Life homes and retreat-style living. We want this community to be all about having the time to enjoy your life, to kick back your feet and enjoy the soundtrack of your life.

At our opening last Saturday, we invited Jericho’s Wall from Peterborough to play in front of our sales centre. Visitors were entertained with classic rock tunes, and enjoyed great food, beer and wine catered by This Little Piggy (and ice cream waffle cones!).

It was great to see everything finally come together: Port Hope’s cool sales centre and the beautifully decorated model home. We’ve combined music and technology into the sales process, so visitors can use innovative touch screen monitors to filter and find the home design that best suits their needs. Once potential homebuyers have registered themselves via an iPad, they got to select their favourite song from a playlist to be played throughout the sales centre (how cool is that!?).

We had a great afternoon in Port Hope! We’ve been working very hard on this new community for a while now, and it’s exciting to see it finally moving into the next phase!

I’d like to thank those who came out and supported us, and everyone on my team who’ve worked very hard thus far. If you haven’t had the chance to visit our sales centre, what are you waiting for?

The BBQ will run from noon until 2pm. You’ll also have the chance to visit our brand new decorated model and to meet your new neighbours. See you there! You can RSVP on Facebook here.

A New Gem! New Design Studio Coming to Peterborough

Now that we’re about to kick off phase two of Avonlea, we’re excited to inform you that we’re also building a new Design Studio in Peterborough! The new studio will be located in a beautiful historic building in the downtown area of Peterborough.

We’ve been building homes in this area for the past forty years, and the new Design Studio will be a lot more convenient for all the homebuyers at Avonlea, Port Hope Golf and Country Club and our upcoming new home community in Cobourg, to ensure that your home is tailored to suit your needs and your style.

At the Design Studio, our professional Design Consultant will walk you through every step to help you build the home you’ve always dreamed of! The new location will be open late spring/early summer this year.

The framing stage is nearly complete at the Design Studio. It may look like a construction zone now but once completed, the new space will look amazing!

Make St. Patrick’s Day Really Green!

Traditionally, St. Patrick’s Day was celebrated every year for spiritual renewal but now every March 17th, we think more about green beer, shamrocks and getting together with friends in busy pubs to toast Irish pride – no matter what your background or where you live.

One town with a ton of spirit on St. Patrick’s Day – in fact, year-round – is Port Hope, just about an hour east of Toronto. Mason Homes has just started building our sales centre and model home at Port Hope Golf and Country Club, our newest Green for Life (not just St. Patrick’s Day!) community.

An active, adult community, Port Hope Golf and Country Club is going to be a charming community with a great neighbourly vibe. We’ve paid special attention to every detail so that everything about it fits the soundtrack of your life. So whether you’re kicking back to some easy listening and watching an amazing sunset, throwing some classic rock on your iPod and hitting a nearby hiking trail or kicking up your heels to your favourite Irish jig, there’s a place for you at Port Hope Golf and Country Club.

Register now and be one of the first to experience life at Port Hope Golf and Country Club – and cheers to a great St. Patrick’s Day!

A Little History of the Town of Port Hope

Port Hope is known as one of Ontario’s oldest and prettiest towns.

The town started growing when four families from England arrived in 1793. By 1834 Port Hope had 1,500 residents and became the first recognized town between Kingston and Toronto. Rapid growth began 20 years later, when railways revolutionized travel. Despite the development, Port Hope has managed to preserve its architectural legacy, gaining its reputation today as a charming town.

Interesting facts about Port Hope:

  • Port Hope has been the set for movies such as Anne of Green Gables, and television hit series Road to Avonlea
  • A Farmers’ Market is held every Saturday from May to October, 8am – noon (except for special event days), behind Town Hall
